Mailer: Middleweight and Model

Martin Amis says the worst photo ever taken of Norman Mailer shows him with a black eye. There’s a worse one – discounting the high fore headed youth in a carpet suit on the back of The Naked And The Dead – of him with a coy expression spreadeagled across an armchair as if on a photo shoot for Hustler except he’s clothed (a slightly better suit) and has a head like Sid James (walnut) and Bob Ellis (sloth).
